Stimulating little minds

Attending interactive storytelling sessions improve concentration, communication and listening skills – above all, it keeps their imagination alive. Schoolkutti.com Children’s Library witnessed some fun filled moments at Aswathy Karanaver’s story telling workshop on Jan 19. Her animated and lively story telling session was a real treat to the children. Delight played on their faces as she spun tale after tale, singing and laughing with them. It was a pleasure to see the little ones sit goggle eyed listening to the ways in which kuttisankaran outwitted the ghost. Of course, kids were not the only ones who loved it, even parents who were present had a great time as they went back to their childhood days.

After the story, we also conducted a recitation contest for the participants aged 4 to 10. The children enjoyed reciting their favorite poems and the winners were presented the best prizes in the world – books 🙂

The Gift of Reading

Do your kids curl up in front of television shows during weekends? Reading a book is any day better than watching television. Exposure to books and to reading should be an integral part of every child’s daily routine.

Do your kids ask you endless questions about where they came from and why the rainbow is colorful? Keep that sense of curiosity and wonder alive in their little minds. Encourage them to look up answers to their questions in dictionaries, encyclopedias, books of facts and every other reference book that they can get hold of.

Do libraries really help children be more successful in life? You bet. It is a well known fact that children who grow up with a love for books have improved attention spans, better concentration, self confidence, good linguistic skills and well developed minds. Libraries provide children with information and resources not available at home. They also help you find the right books for your children at every age.

The new Schoolkutti.com children’s library has a wide collection of books by popular children’s authors of all times. We plan to offer a variety of fun events for children from time to time – story telling, reading aloud, puppet shows, magic performances and much more.

We will also keep your kids motivated to read with contests like the Reader of the Month and the Best Book Review of the Month.

Choose the best gift for your child – the Joy of Reading!

Congrats to our young science wizards!

The science exhibition held as part of the Revenue District Educational Fair concluded at Government GHSS, Cotton Hill, on Wednesday. School students of twelve sub-districts participated in the event.

Vivek C R and Sree Ganga B S of New Higher Secondary School, Nellimoodu, displayed a public transportation facility which works on electromagnetic induction with minimal fuel consumption and energy loss. They were inspired by an article in ‘Reader’s Digest’ on the Korean Government’s implementation of a road transport system using electromagnetic induction.

Another interesting display was a ‘Wireless helmet ignition’ presented by Atheerth Chandran and Aromal M S of AMHSS, Thirumala. The helmet conceived by them ensures safety of the passenger and even helps him in case of an emergency by sending an automatic alert to 108. The model also has an anti-theft alarm.

Another interesting model was a ‘rhetrolic wheelchair’ a very useful equipment for elders and the physically-challenged, designed by Greeshma M S and Jollymol J of St Chrysostom Girls HSS, Nellimoodu.

Congrats to all the young science wizards!
