Schoolmynd Summer Camp Location: (Location: Ambalamukku)
Get yourself immersed in the joyful, fun filled world of scintillating science experiments ranging from Martian Robots to Spiralling cyclones, and get unshackled from the learning constraints. We proudly present the fifth edition of the premier science camp, Eurecka 2022 conducted by Schoolmynd, Ambalamukku, Trivandrum. Meant for students of grades 3 to 9, the camp is tentatively planned to be held from April 15th to May 2nd ( except Sundays & Saturdays ).

1. Speech and Drama for Kids

There will be a performance for parents on 28 March at 5:30 PM (after the last session)
2. HelenO’Grady Speech and Drama classes for 7 to 12 year olds
The speciality of HOG is using a wide range of unique drama activities to focus the bold, outspoken child and to draw out the quiet child or the inarticulate child and help them reach into themselves to discover their full potential. 3. Scrabble Camp
It’s easy to see why Scrabble is not only a fun game, but also a fantastic educational tool. Scrabble makes learning fun. Obviously, it builds strong vocabulary and spelling, but it also requires math (players need to see what plays are worth what) and strategy (players need to see what plays are worth the most and what plays might keep their opponents from scoring), even spatial relations and probability. Monkeying around – Storytime at Schoolkutti
“Kids learnt about body parts, adjectives and some interesting jungle vocabulary during our WordPlay story time last weekend.
It was based on the charming and humorous book ‘Monkey Puzzle’ by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, an all-time favourite with children.The butterfly is keen to help the poor little monkey who has lost his mom and they meet lots of other animals along the way before they finally succeed.
The monkey making craft was a huge hit with children. We had a fun counting lesson through the rhyme ‘Five little monkeys jumping on the bed””, as the five bouncy little monkeys bump their heads and get hauled off to the doctor one by one. During our free reading time, kids enjoyed reading some fantastic books – chosen by them of course. As we had an energetic group of kids, there as a lot of monkey business as well 🙂

WordPlay Updates – So Cosy
We had some captivating stories and wonderful games during our WordPlay session today. Children had a cosy time with our facilitator Saranya narrating the story from the book ‘So Cosy’. Such a darling book, our kids loved it! We also picked a craft activity that fits with the book. Doing art and crafts in storytime gives kids an opportunity to practice early literacy skills and also interact with other children. We also read a Malayalam story from the Russian book by Sutyev.

Magic of Stories – March 2 WordPlay Updates
Yesterday’s WordPlay was very special as we also included stories and discussion based on books in Malayalam.
We chose the Malayalam version of the book ‘I’m so sleepy’ about Bahadur, the little elephant, who has forgotten how to sleep.Worried, and very, very sleepy he goes to his animal friends for help. But they all sleep in their own different ways — elephants don’t sleep like that! We shared this adorable children’s book with the little ones and then thoroughly enjoyed re-creating Bahadur through a fun craft activity. Had fun playing the game ‘oru meen poyi , randu meen poyi….. 10 meenine pidiche ‘ – it’s a great way to get young kids to focus on counting in malayalam.
In English, the ‘The Mixed-Up Chameleon’ by Eric Carle was an instant hit with the children. This book attempts to educate children on the differences between various animals by presenting a morally enlightening story that features a chameleon. We also enjoyed singing some fantastic songs in both languages. Finally, each of them was sitting with a book of his/her choice going through the pictures or reading. We are definitely making progress in developing early literacy skills, imagination and a love for books in these children.

So the first month of summer vacation is getting over. However, Trivandrum is still buzzing with activities for children – be it theater, chess, sports, yoga, personality development, public speaking, music, dance and reading.. Come and explore the top events for children.
MindCarter is hosting a theater program for kids at hotel SP GRAND DAYS, Trivandrum. This is for 7-14 years old students. The dates in May are yet to be finalized. Details are here.

Nirbhaya Debating Society will be conducting a Partriotic Leadership Program at Schoolkutti.com Children’s Library for children above 10 years. It is basically a Patriotic Leadership Program for School Students.
The main objective of the program is to train the next generation in Leadership Strategies, Effective Nation Building, Team Development, Active Citizenship, Character Formation, Communication Skills etc.
Activities: Role Play, Skit, Model Parliament, Mock Press etc.

About the Trainer: A.P Prejish, an emerging Entrepreneurship Trainer and an Educationalist is a National Award Winner in Public Speaking constituted by Government of India. Prejish is the Chairman of Nirbhaya Debating Society and has been training more than thousands of students and youngsters through various Central and State Government organizations such as Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (Govt. of India), Centre for Gandhian Studies – University of Kerala, National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), Student Police Cadet Project (SPC).

About the trainer:
Chothy Nair , Founder and Artistic director of Varadamudra Temple of Dance Trivandrum, started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of three. She took her first steps in Mohiniyattam at the age of nine and Kuchipudi at the age of twelve. She was a recipient of the CCRT scholarship for Mohiniyattam in 2000. She was also honoured with the title of Kalathilakam from 2005 to 2007 in both Keralotsavam and Shree Vidhyadhiraja Kalotsavam. She was the first runner up in Vanita Ratnam, a women’s reality show aired on Amrita Television in 2010. She finished her graduation in Choreography from Natya insitute of kathak and Choreography under the able guidance of Guru Smt Dr Maya Rao and Maddhu Natraj Kiran. She has performed and Choreographed for various performances in India.
