: Anant Pai or Uncle Pai, as he is popularly known as, was born on 17th September 1929, in Karkala, Karnataka. He is the founder of the popular comic series Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle. He propagated the tales of Indian mythology and folk among the children through comic books. Some of his other works include Ramu and Shamu, Little Raji, Funland, and Rekha. He has been awarded several prestigious awards in his lifetime.
