Chacha Nehru Children's Museum (Doll Museum)
1st Floor, Kerala State Council for Child Welfare, Thycaud, Trivandrum,
General Secretary (Contact Person)
The Museum is located at the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare head quarters in Thycaud. Originally set up in 1981 under the name Chacha Nehru Children’s Museum, the museum got its new look as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the State Council for Child Welfare.

All the six rooms which house the dolls are beautifully decorated. The dolls in different shapes, sizes, costumes and expressions-right from one-inch to six feet-tall ones- include those made in China clay, papier Mache, cloth, coir, wood, rubber, plastic and fibers are simply astonishing. There are dolls decked in traditional Kerala attire with glittering jewellery and in the typical costumes of other states too. A major attraction is the set of dolls dressed to depict India’s culture and heritage.

The Museum also has a good display of stamp and masks. A mini aquarium and the first issue of a volume of children’s literature in Malayalam are also exhibited here.
